Soil Types

When the ground has become fertile enough to plant on, it will turn from dirt to Grass. Grass is the default soil type, but it can be changed to other types using certain Livly abilities.

Visit the Livly Abilities section for more information.

There are 10 soil types. Each one must be treated differently in order for their plants to thrive.

List of Soil Types

Grass

The default soil type. Water as needed.

Water

Requires no watering. Having lots of Water tiles will lower the temperature and raise the humidity of a garden. Plants grow slowly.

Marsh

Requires lots of watering and uses up water quickly. Having lots of Marsh tiles will raise the humidity of a garden.

Notes: This soil type doesn't lose water as fast as the Autumn type but it can still surprise you. Water frequently with the hose tool or Rain ability.

Wastelands

Requires little watering and uses up water slowly. Plants grow slowly. Loses its fertility faster than other types.

Notes: Just keep an eye on the fertility of these tiles, make sure they don't surprise you by turning into dirt when you least expect.

Jungle

Requires lots of watering. Plants grow quickly.

Sand

Requires little watering and uses up water slowly. If watered a bit too much, plants will stop growing. If overwatered, plants will start to die.

Notes: This soil type can be a pain. Don't use the watering can or Rain ability, that will be too much water, just rely on the ladle tool. 2 ladlefuls of water is the maximum you should water Sand tiles.

Snowfield

Water as needed. Having lots of Snowfield tiles will lower the temperature of a garden. Bugs that are attracted to Snowfield plants prefer cold temperatures.

Fairytale

Water as needed. Bugs that are attracted to Fairytale plants prefer there be lots of Fairytale tiles in a garden.

Notes: Your garden doesn't need to be entirely Fairytale tiles to attract bugs, 4 or more tiles should do.

Autumn

Requires lots of watering and uses up water quickly. Plants grow slowly.

Notes: This soil type uses up water a lot quicker than the Marsh type. Water frequently with the hose tool or Rain ability.

Mystery

Requires little watering. If watered a bit too much, plants will stop growing. Bugs that are attracted to Mystery plants prefer cold temperatures.

Notes: It doesn't seem that overwatering will kill Mystery plants, but it's best to keep water levels low regardless.
